World Health Day, celebrated annually on April 7th

World Health Day, celebrated annually on April 7th, commemorates the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948 and serves as a global platform to raise awareness.

As harbingers of  good health for our community, we at FLAG commemorated the theme  “Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures”  with  an array of health and wellness activities to foster a complete integration of mind, body and soul for our student body.

Leading upto the day, Interdisciplinary activities that involved participation to learn by doing were planned across the middle school section led by the language and arts departments enabling creative notes of gratitude for the medical fraternity ,rock garden with reassuring  reminders & mood uplifting moments  for peers as well as  jingles aiming at call for awareness on the health hazards experienced due to obesity.

The grade 8 students were initiated into discussions about the global conditions on the health of civic workers and working actively towards the cause of providing sanitation through hygiene kits that were distributed amongst the society cleaning staff.

We also had teachers speak about the basic hygiene manners that are imperative as a community and enlighten students about the movement by our Prime Minister aiming towards fitness.

The driver was  further enhanced  by sharing a Weekly Wellness Schedule with parents with action based ideas leading towards overall well being  and a gratitude journal that has become a ritual for our students to begin their mornings with.

However the highlight of the entire drive was the ‘Let’s Walk the Talk’  by our JBK members flagged off by Dr.Gayatri Rao ,a homeopath in holistic health and nutrition along with our alumni Ayesha Farooqi and our coordinators. The purpose of embracing an ancient exercise to benefit us as a modern medicine was delivered with full gusto as the walkathon ended at an installation symbolizing the way forward to‘I SEE A HEALTHY ME’  working towards goals set for health and wellbeing  one step at a time.
