Our Grade 8 students recently engaged themselves in the Red Light, Yellow Light, Green Light Visible thinking routine while exploring the text – The Girl Who Drank the Moon.
This strategy encouraged them to reflect deeply on the text, clear their doubts, and generate meaningful discussions.
Students worked together in groups to identify three key areas:
Red Light (STOP) – Parts of the text that were confusing or raised questions.
Yellow Light (PAUSE) – Interesting or thought-provoking moments worth discussing.
Green Light (GO) – Clear ideas that made sense and connected to other themes.
Through peer discussions, students clarified their doubts and came up with insightful questions under each category. This collaborative approach helped them deepen their understanding of the novel, challenge each other’s perspectives, and spark more curiosity about what’s to come!
By the end not only did they find answers, but they were also left with new questions to explore, making reading a truly interactive and engaging experience!
