Fazlani L’Academie Globale hosted the ‘STAND ALONE’ workshop organised by the Counselling Centre and the A levels Psychology students on Wednesday, 14th September 2022.The workshop aimed to equip and empower the PYP teachers with the art of understanding and embracing loneliness given the fast lives we live, the constant indulgence of social media which creates gaps in human contact. The event was opened and introduced by Ms. Arwa Baldiwala , Head of School, followed by a welcome note by the student speakers.The Guest speaker Dr.Sapna Bangar who is a psychiatrist and Head of MPower spoke on the causes of loneliness, long term effects it has on mental health and differentiating loneliness between children and adults.
This was followed by a beautiful rendition of Fake Happy ( Paramore ) by our students .Ms Simoni Parikh, MA Clinical Psychologist at ASA Wellness elucidated ways of managing and coping with our emotions. She spoke on the relevance and role of sound therapy and highlighted the fact that music has the potential to alter emotions and mood, thus leading to a relaxed state of being.The impact of loneliness on children,ways to tackle the issue of loneliness and creating a safe space for them was also one of the key takeaways.The session closed with a vote of thanks by Ms. Ashna Shah, A level Psychology facilitator and School Counsellor. Everyone was later seen bonding and exchanging notes over high tea.
