MatheMagic’al moments were created at Fazlani L’Academie Globale on Friday 17th March for the Middle School students as the celebration of PI day extended over two days for them.
An exciting and engaging inter house competition was curated by our high school MathTeacher along with the students of the ‘Genius Hour Club’ a group that meets on a weekly basis to harness their common interest for the subject.
With 3 finalists from each of the four houses the competition was nothing short of a Quiz Contest meant for masters and revolved around the solid shape ‘triangle’.These rounds included brain tricking questions and brain tickling activities based on ‘tessellation’ and ‘tangram’. Building a model of a pyramid with the use of toothpicks and marshmallows was also a part of the fun.In true quiz show style each team had the advantage of three life lines namely expert’s (teacher) opinion , phone a friend and double dip . The event brought to the fore the aspect of transdisciplinary skills merging all subject areas beautifully and highlighted exceptional facts proving that maths coexists in nature and in our daily lives.
The organising team members maintained a score board and declared Navigators as the winning team with the highest score, closely followed by the Explorers.
Witnessing the interactive and engaged audience, the Academic Director, Head of School and the Middle School Coordinator all agreed that the Math facilitator had created a love for learning for Math, dispelling any fears related to the subject!
