Starting the week leading to International Self Care Day, we at FLAG hosted a session for our grade 7 learners that resonated with the theme “Resilience, adaptability, and thriving in adversity”.
On Monday, 22 July our students collectively experienced a positive outlet for expressing, channelling, releasing, and letting go of emotions/ worries through art.
As they gathered, they were encouraged to create self awareness via a breathing exercise and delving deeper through a prayer.
Students were seated across each other facing the canvas as they allowed the colours to guide them in an emotionally safe place for creative expression.
By virtue of this therapeutic exercise they aimed at an inner cleansing by releasing any emotion that disrupted their peace on a day to day basis.
We hope this session served our students as a transformative experience and equipped them to find their inner quiet that is usually lost in the hustle bustle of daily lives.
