At FLAG we kickstarted the academic year with a thought provoking and insightful session ‘Silent Signals -How Psychiatric Symptoms Show up Across the Years?’ led by Dr.Kersi Chavda on Tuesday, 24th June for the entire teaching faculty.
Dr. Chavda is a psychiatrist having served as the Past President of Bombay Psychiatric Society, currently chairing the IPS task force on the LGBTQ community and College Psychiatry and is a dedicated advocate for child and adolescent mental health.
A lot of stress was laid on the issues that students have to deal with as part of their own growth and development as well as dealing with issues related to peer pressure, academic performance and more recently the challenges faced on social media. As a team we were given to understand the essence of empathy which enables us to make prudent decisions and live up to our roles as educators and mentors.
As we begin the year, this session served as a reminder that behind every behavior is a story and it’s our responsibility to listen, guide, and support with compassion.
