A session on Social & Emotional Well being led by Dr.Hozefa Bhinderwala was organised on Thursday, 9th March at Fazlani L’Academie Globale. Dr. Bhinderwala is a renowned psychiatrist with a career spanning over two decades and continues to contribute towards mental health care in association with multi speciality hospitals.
The informative talk focused on the challenges that students typically face at this age and how the brain plays a very significant role in dealing/coping with these issues. The key takeaways from the session stressed on the idea that bullying need not be tolerated and it is important to seek help, drug abuse is not cool rather being drug free is cool. It also reinforced the fact that each one of us is unique and we need to take responsibility for our decisions and actions.
Through the session a lot of understanding on the development of the brain over the growing years, pointers on how to identify bullies, be it a person or disguised through substances of abuse and measures to deal effectively through self awareness and self regulation was shared.
The morning ended with the speaker’s favourite quote ‘I am in complete control and can stop whenever I decide to’ dispelling the myth and leading to internalising and a serious realisation before we run out of time.
