Fazlani L’Academie Globale organised a collaborative educational field trip to the Max Green Farms, Karjat for students of Grade 9 on Tuesday, 21st March. Starting from the fun bus journey enroute, a boat ride to the farm base, this trip provided students with a unique opportunity to learn about hydroponic farming.
The farm near lake Kalote, offered a scenic lush view and the entire process of how technology can be used to enhance crop production and reduce environmental impact was explained in detail by the agronomist.Details on temperature controlled environment, humidity and ph sensors along with an understanding on the soilless agriculture, based on nutrient filled water recycling medium and pesticide free farming that produces a variety of leafy greens was included in the sharings.
As students probed to learn about use of sensors to monitor and optimise crop growth leading to higher yields, they were motivated into considering ideas of profitable entrepreneurship start ups in the scope of agriculture. Overall a great insight into the practical application of concepts taught in biology, environmental management, computer science, and ICT, the key takeaway affirming that sustainable farming practices reduce carbon footprint thus making ‘Go Green’ a real mission for our citizens of the future.
