Keeping in tune with the aim of providing experiential learning opportunities, we organised a visit to Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary for students of grade 6 on Tuesday,21st March.
Students explored the exotic, picturesque surroundings consisting of a dense mangrove forest undertaken for a significant project of bird conservation. Prominently known for the migratory flamingos that gather in spring every year, our adventurous team of teachers and students took a tour of the creek on the boat and were mesmerised as they spotted a variety of splendidly coloured flamingos in their full glory.
It was a visual treat for them as they also sighted other migratory birds like the sandpiper,egrets,black-headed ibis and northern shoveler amongst others. These observations will be instrumental for our students to make a connection with their current topic under study about human and animal migration in the subject of Global Perspectives.
