Digital Literacy with a Purpose: Grade 8 Champions Tiger Conservation

As part of our Digital Literacy unit, Grade 8 students explored how social media can be used as a powerful platform to educate, inspire, and drive positive change. To bring this learning to life on International Tiger Day, students stepped into the role of digital advocates, creating impactful awareness campaigns for tiger conservation.

Using Canva, they designed engaging social media posts, infographics, and digital posters to support the Tx2 Goal – a global initiative to double the world’s wild tiger population. Through thoughtful research, creativity, and responsible digital practices, students crafted compelling conservation messages, highlighted the importance of protecting tiger habitats, and encouraged others to take action.

This interdisciplinary activity strengthened students’ digital design, communication, and critical thinking skills while reinforcing an important lesson: social media, when used responsibly, can be a powerful tool for advocacy and creating awareness about global issues.

At FLAG, we are proud to nurture responsible digital citizens who use technology not just to connect, but to make a meaningful difference.
