National Mathematics Day at PYP

National Mathematics Day is celebrated on December 22nd every year to honour the birth anniversary of the renowned Indian mathematician Mr. Srinivasa Ramanuja.

At PYP, we observed this day with great enthusiasm to promote the importance of mathematics and to inspire young minds to explore the fascinating world of mathe-magic.

On this day, to commemorate the discovery of Srinivas Ramanujan’s special number 1729, students constructed the Magic Square puzzle. Different groups created different formulas in such a way that empty boxes can only be filled with digits 1,7,2,9.

Students used alphabet number decoder to find the special number 1729 or digits in their names and made a secret code.

Many more games were explored in different grades like place value number search using play cards, multiplication hopscotch to hop on the correct answer all around digits 1,7,2,9, and tessellation corners to make connections with different mathematical strands.

This day surely serves as a reminder that mathematics is not just about numbers but a key to unlocking the mysteries of the universe.

By celebrating the National Mathematics Day, with a great enthusiasm and spirit, we aim to nurture a generation of innovative minds who embrace mathematics with curiosity and confidence.
