Our Grade 7 History classroom transformed into a courtroom as our students stepped into the roles of lawyers, jury members, witnesses and court officials to investigate one of the most debated questions surrounding the Battle of Plassey: Was Mir Jafar Guilty?
With lawyers presenting arguments, witnesses sharing their perspectives, evidence being examined, and the jury carefully considering both sides, students experienced history not as a chapter to be memorised, but as a story to be questioned, debated and understood.
From cross-examinations to compelling arguments, our young historians demonstrated critical thinking, confidence, collaboration, public speaking and historical reasoning.
And finally came the moment everyone was waiting for… *THE VERDICT: GUILTY* !

But the real lesson went beyond the verdict. Students discovered that history is rarely black and white. Understanding the past requires us to examine evidence, perspectives, motives and consequences. When history becomes an experience, learning becomes unforgettable.
